Tendências de desempenho a longo prazo e progressão de índices de referência na natação masculina de elite ao longo de cinco ciclos olímpicos (2008–2028)

Nas últimas duas décadas, o desempenho da natação olímpica melhorou. No entanto, menos atenção tem sido dada à evolução dos padrões de índices de classificação olímpica. Este estudo observacional retrospectivo analisou os padrões de qualificação específicos para todas as provas de natação masculina em piscina. Os dados foram extraídos de documentos públicos e relatórios de competições. Foram realizadas análises estatísticas descritivas, cálculos de variação percentual, análise de correlação de Pearson e testes t de amostras pareadas entre os ciclos olímpicos de 2008 a 2028. Para 2028, os índices foram definidos como o 14º melhor tempo de entrada dos Jogos Olímpicos de 2024. Em todas as provas, a redução cumulativa média nos tempos entre Pequim 2008 e Los Angeles 2028 foi de 2,86 ± 0,54%, correspondendo a uma diminuição proporcional média de 0,6% por ciclo olímpico, com a análise de tendência confirmando significância estatística (p < 0,001). A análise por evento revelou o maior estreitamento nos 100 m peito (−3,74%) e nos 100 m borboleta (−3,25%). Quando agrupadas por distância, as provas de velocidade (50–100 m) apresentaram o maior estreitamento geral (−3,57%), seguidas pelas provas de meio-fundo (200–400 m, −2,08%) e de fundo (800–1500 m, −2,45%). Quando agrupadas por modalidade de nado, o borboleta (−3,28%) e o nado livre (−3,20%) apresentaram a maior redução, enquanto o medley individual (−2,29%) demonstrou a menor redução. Observou-se uma forte correlação positiva entre a diminuição dos tempos de qualificação olímpica e a melhora no desempenho olímpico em todas as provas (r = 0,74). Esses resultados indicam que os índices se tornaram mais rigorosos e estão amplamente alinhados com a progressão do desempenho de elite, fornecendo parâmetros de referência aplicados para treinadores e equipes de preparação física.
