Resumo

Os "primary care providers" (PCPs) podem oferecer aconselhamento a adultos com artrite sobre atividade física, o que pode reduzir a dor e melhorar a função física, a saúde mental e vários outros benefícios. Analisamos dados transversais do DocStyles de 2018 para 1.366 PCPs que relataram que sempre ou às vezes recomendam atividade física para adultos com artrite. A maioria dos PCPs amostrados (88,2%) recomendou caminhada, natação ou ciclismo; 65,5% não recomendaram nenhum programa de atividade física adequado à artrite, baseado em evidências, reconhecidas pelos Centros de Controle e Prevenção de Doenças. Existem oportunidades para campanhas de conscientização de saúde pública para educar os PCPs sobre programas de atividade física baseados em evidências que comprovadamente otimizam a saúde de adultos com artrite quando é necessário mais do que aconselhamento.
